Law Firm Challenge for Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation Fundraiser
MIAMI – March 1, 2005 – Inspired by those suffering from Chron’s disease, the Miami-based law firm of Kluger, Peretz, Kaplan & Berlin P.L. was honored this month as winner of the national Law Firm Challenge. With more than 60 law firms across the nation participating, KPKB secured the largest charitable donation for the 10th Annual Keymorada Invitational Fly-Spin Tournament, which seeks to raise funds for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. The firm’s contribution will help fund critical research and treatment against the chronic disease.
Affecting millions of people in the United States alone, Chron’s disease causes inflammation in the small intestine and can extend deep into the lining of the organ. The swelling can cause great pain and can make the intestines empty frequently, resulting in diarrhea. It affects men and women equally and as an inflammatory bowel disease, common complications can result in the blockage of the intestinal wall, sores and ulcers, and infections in the surrounding tissues that can require surgery.
“I am proud of everyone at Kluger, Peretz, Kaplan and Berlin and their willingness to donate to this cause,” said founding partner Abbey Kaplan. “As a result of our contribution, researchers will be able to touch the lives of thousands with the critical care and study needed to combat this incapacitating disease.”
Kluger, Peretz, Kaplan & Berlin will be recognized for their donation at a cocktail reception hosted by Gibraltar Bank on March 31, 2005 and will also receive a special trophy to be held for one year similar to the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup. The firm will also be acknowledged on shirts distributed to all participants and guides in the upcoming fishing tournament this summer.
