South Florida law firm announces five new partners

MIAMI – February 5, 2007 – Kluger Peretz Kaplan & Berlin, a leading Florida law firm, announced today that five attorneys have been elevated to partner.

The new partners and their practice areas are: Jacquline Calderin, Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights; James T. Ferrara, Litigation and Dispute Resolution; Michael T. Landen, Litigation & Dispute Resolution; Jonathan D. Louis, Business and Real Estate Transactions; Les Osborne, Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights.

Jacqueline Calderín devotes her practice to bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, with significant experience in institutional debt refinancing, restructuring, assignments for the benefit of creditors, and other out-of-court workouts. Calderín previously held positions with the corporate recovery practice of KPMG, LLP and corporate restructuring services at Arthur Andersen, LLP.  She has served as a certified legal intern in the office of the United States Trustee for the Southern District of Florida and as a judicial intern to the Honorable Raymond B. Ray, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of Florida, Broward Division. Calderín earned a J.D. from the University of Miami and B.A. from Florida International University, magna cum laude. Calderín practices in the firm’s Miami office.


 

James T. Ferrara, practicing from the firm's Boca Raton office, has tried over 40 trials through jury or non-jury verdict, and has 12 published appellate opinions before Florida District Courts of Appeal and the Florida Supreme Court. Ferrara's practice concentrates in the areas of business dispute resolution and construction litigation. He earned his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University and B.A. from Furman University.


Michael T. Landen focuses his practice on commercial litigation and employment consultation and litigation. He represents clients in a wide variety of commercial litigation matters, as well as with employment discrimination, compliance, FMLA, ADA and FLSA issues. He earned a J.D. from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center and a B.S. from the University of Florida. He is admitted to practice before, and has tried cases in, state and federal courts in Florida. Landen has been recognized as among the top 2% of lawyers in South Florida in the South Florida Business Journal’s “The Best of the Bar.” He practices in the firm’s Miami office.


Jonathan D. Louis, a business and real estate transactional attorney, devotes his practice to the structuring and negotiating of agreements related to business expansions, mergers, acquisitions, debt or equity offerings, and both residential and commercial real estate sales, leases, and purchases. Mr. Louis is a former in-house counsel for a publicly traded Fortune 500 company where he focused on legal matters related to technology, outsourcing, and staffing groups. He holds a J.D. from the University of Miami’s School of Law and B.A. degree from Brandeis University. Mr. Louis practices law in the firm’s Boca Raton office and is a community leader in Boca Raton which includes his involvement as a leader in the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County and membership in the Rotary Club of Boca Raton.

Les Osborne
represents trustees, creditors, and debtors in bankruptcy proceedings. Osborne was appointed in 2003 to be a panel trustee by the United States Trustee's office, where he has handled in excess of

2000 Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases. He earned a J.D. from Nova Southeastern Shepard Broad Law Center and B.A. from Hawaii Loa College. Osborne practices in the firm’s Boca Raton office.
